Five Things Friday

Something I’m Getting Together

While my usual con-crunching is the week before and I am up til 4 am every single night leading up to the con/ (whoops) For Momocon, I’ve been consistently working on a little every day since March. So you would think I wouldn’t be behind, right?! WELL YOU WOULD THINK.

I’ve actually hit a lot of roadblocks in building the Scaramouche hat! I bought a template off of Etsy, but I 3D printed the accessories, and while they’re not THAT heavy one of my biggest concerns in the build of the hat was that the inside would be “droopy.”

For the outside brim, I bought a wire wreath frame and covered it with EVA foam.

The build of the inside of the hat was pretty straightforward - THEN tragedy struck. The inside of the hat was a liiiiiittle droopy once I connected it to the wreath frame and I was absolutely devastated. I had to do some creative problem solving - which is the beauty of cosplay of course and now I’m excited to say I have finished constructing the Scaramouche hat.

I’ve begun the painting process! We’re getting there. I also am excited to have 3D prints of some of the accessories on the costume to take it to the next level.

Something I’m Thankful For

I’ve been pretty transparent that this is a tough season of life for me and seeing the outpouring of love and support after my recent car accident has made me feel so safe and encouraged to keep seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am motivated to keep moving by your kind words and support. Creative work keeps me healthy in more ways than one, and I want to make sure I prioritize continuing this wellness practice as much as I can, especially during this season of life. This is possible because of YOU. Thank you. For more than you’ll ever know!

Something I Am Loving

Hell’s Paradise! WOW WOW WOW. I hope y’all are watching this or at least planning to once the first season is out. It is EXCELLENT. I am loving the character development, animation style, and story!

Something Y’all Aren’t Gonna Believe

So I like Demon Slayer but it’s never been STICKY in my mind as one of my favorites. I enjoy it. I love it. It is not something I would call “sticky” that makes me think about it once the episode’s over, but this season I am really loving it! I think it’s so much fun and I’m enjoying getting to see the developments in world building and character development.

I have plans to cosplay Muichiro this summer at Tekko with a little Demon Slayer group and I genuinely cannot believe I’m cosplaying from Demon Slayer for the first time!

Something I Am Learning

I have a sewing machine and I know how to use it! (a little….) but no really, I am THRILLED to say I have been practicing and really doing pretty well on learning this new skill. I feel unstoppable on a sewing machine! Hahaha Enjoy this lovely photo of my in progress Legato Bluesummers jacket!
