Something I Am Working On

I cannot wait to cosplay Euini from Witch Hat Atelier! I am participating in a virtual collaboration the 30th of this month, then bringing him along to both Kumoricon and Anime Weekend Atlanta in November. I think it’s a very different cosplay for me with a lot of fun details to play around with and make my own, so the process has been very fun so far. I think my favorite detail right now is the lace trim, but I’m very excited to play with the scales next.

I’m thrilled to say everything (aside from the wolf ears bought new) is repurposed material or second hand through trading, gifts, or small purchases! I was going back and forth on sewing the underdress, and scoured craft rescues, thrifts, and buy nothing groups for an appropriate fabric. I ended up finding someone selling a dress their grandmother made that ticked all my boxes and I’m thrilled to give it new life in this cosplay and incorporate it into my every day wardrobe.

Something else I was initially stumped on was the shoes! I find myself dissatisfied with purchasing anything for the sole purpose of one cosplay where I can help it and I could not see myself wearing black ballet flats like that outside of this cosplay, and I was dreading the discomfort of that type of shoe for me. I’d much rather be in stilettos hahaha. I brainstormed and brainstormed and brainstormed different ways to depart from canon in a way that still honored the aesthetics and overall silhouette with things I have around me and nothing was popping up at first until I was finally unpacking the last of my boxes from the move and remembered a pair of shoes I hadn’t worn in a while (since I have been stumped on how to style them recently) that were both incredibly comfortable and aesthetically similar enough to satisfy the need. It’s a fun texture add with the scales on the shoes.

Something I Am Nostalgic About

The Tokyo Revengers resurgence has been a nostalgia overload for me thinking about my experience in the fandom in 2021-22 as the manga was coming to an end and how much fun I had making videos, talking theories, reading fanfic, and hanging out in cosplay with friends! As the fourth season has been airing, I have been working on updating my Sanzu cosplays and it’s brought back so many memories and shown me just how far I’ve grown as a cosplayer since then and the confidence I’ve built in my skills.

Something I’m Re-watching

I am so excited to be cosplaying Johan Liebert for a “Monster Mash” themed party tonight and in preparation, I’ve been rewatching with my husband. It’s honestly better than I even remember and it’s quite interesting watching with this lens to be able to see the themes and finer details so much more clearly than when I was first experiencing!

Something I Dropped

I was playing Deltarune earlier this summer, and while yes, life happened and I got too busy to continue, I was not as engaged as I was while I was playing Undertale! I don’t know if it was circumstantial that I couldn’t focus to finish the game given what was going on in my life, but I haven’t been itching to pick it back up after the Tenna chapter concluded. Maybe one day I’ll finish it!

Something I’ve Been Busy With

I have been training for a new job! It’s something I’m really looking forward to, and a work environment that I really feel I’ll grow in, but it’s been quite demanding of my time and energy as I train. I am looking forward to my schedule relaxing a bit into a more predictable routine.
