Five Things Friday - 8/18
1. Something I Could Cry About
WELL FRIENDS, it appears Lyney’s disappearing act worked a LITTLE TOO WELL and I lost my 50/50 on his banner and got Tighnari. I honestly don’t know much about Tighnari’s game play or team comps or anything so I can’t be too disappointed. I also don’t really have any dendro characters as it is, so hey, there’s a silver lining BUT I WANTED THE MAGICIAN GUY!!!! So this is why I must cry…
But to be totally real with y’all I haven’t even made it through Sumeru let alone to Fontaine OOP so I definitely have some backlogged content to make it through and hopefully rack up some primogems and get him before his banner completely ends… May the genshin gods smile upon me in this endeavor…
2. Something I’m Listening to Right Now
Character playlists are hit or miss for me, but that doesn’t keep me from trying because when you find GEMS you find GEMS! What a gem is for me is a character playlist that seems to analyze deeper parts of a character lyrically, or captures the energy and vivid color they bring to their narrative. This Rio Ranger playlist, a character from Your Turn to Die, is excellent! I discovered some new tunes while really feeling “immersed” in the character and the thoughts/ ideas/ vibes they provoke!
3. Something Coming Soon
September is going to be a SUPER exciting month! Not only is it my BIRTHDAY MONTH (September 28) but it’s a month of not one, not two, but THREE cons?! The month will start with Dragon Con on Labor Day Weekend, then will go to Alabama Comic Con for a day on the 23rd, and then a new con called Huntsville Anime Invasion on the weekend of my actual birthday and I’ll go Friday and Saturday. I’m still determining lineups and whatnot but I’m very excited to do some more “local” things now that I’m back in the South.
4. Something Creative
So I’ve had the idea of doing a Tokyo Revengers concept video for quite some time and with season 3 coming out - and Sanzu having like… three words of dialogue in this arc so he’s actually beginning to enter the narrative AT LAST - I thought, WHAT A BETTER TIME!
For this project, I’ve teamed up with some of my favorite Tokyo Revengers cosplayers to make this vision a reality and oh my gosh I am excited and HONORED. Here’s the song we’ll be using: Tokyo Revengers by MUPP
5. Something As a Sneak Peek
I did two photoshoots last week with my cosplay partner megumi tempest, and the first was a Legato Bluesummers set where my favorite foods got to be my props! Here’s an unedited little gem from this set that I CAN’T WAIT TO SHOW Y’ALL!
This cosplay has quickly become my comfort cosplay, and in so many ways this set was just as healing as it was fun. It’s a really incredible feeling getting to explore yourself through the lens of a fictional character. I found it really cool that because I look at Legato through a lens of love, he acts as almost a “buffer” in a way to start seeing myself a little differently through that lens of love too.
